Cookie Policy
Effective date: June 7, 2026 · Last updated: June 7, 2026
1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Lent's House Inc. ("Lent's House," "we," "us") uses cookies and similar technologies (pixels, local storage, SDKs) on www.lentshouse.org (the "Site"). It is issued together with, and forms part of, our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. It is written to align with the EU ePrivacy Directive, the UK PECR, the GDPR/UK-GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), the Colorado Privacy Act, the Virginia CDPA, the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, and other comparable U.S. state privacy laws.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognize your device, remember your preferences, and support core functions. "Similar technologies" include browser local storage, session storage, pixels, and software development kits (SDKs) that perform the same functions as cookies.
3. Categories of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary (always on): required to deliver the Site you requested — for example, security, load balancing, accessibility preferences saved by our accessibility widget, and remembering your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off and do not require consent under ePrivacy / PECR.
- Functional / preference (opt-in): remember choices such as theme, language, or text-size so the experience persists between visits.
- Analytics / performance (opt-in): privacy-respecting, aggregated measurement of pages visited, referrers, and approximate geography so we can improve content. We do not use analytics to build advertising profiles of you.
- Advertising / targeting: we do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not participate in real-time bidding or sale of personal information.
4. Donations & our payment partner (Zeffy)
All donations are processed off-site by Zeffy, our PCI-DSS compliant payment partner. When you click "Donate," you are redirected to Zeffy's hosted donation page. Lent's House never sees, collects, or stores your card number, CVV, bank account, or other payment credentials. Zeffy may set its own cookies on its domain to process the transaction, prevent fraud, and issue your receipt; those cookies are governed by Zeffy's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, not by Lent's House.
5. How donated funds are handled
Funds raised through Zeffy are disbursed to Lent's House Inc. and reviewed by our in-house finance team. All accounts are independently reviewed by a third-party Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and reported on IRS Form 990 in accordance with U.S. tax law. Lent's House does not retain donor card numbers, bank credentials, or payment instruments. We retain only the information required to issue tax receipts and to satisfy IRS, state-charity, and accounting record-retention rules (generally seven years).
6. Third-party services that may set cookies
- Zeffy — donation processing (only when you visit Zeffy's donation page).
- Google Fonts — typography delivery (no advertising cookies).
- Embedded media (if any video or map is embedded) — providers may set their own cookies governed by their policies.
7. Your choices and controls
- Cookie banner: on first visit you may accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice anytime via the "Cookie settings" link in our footer.
- Browser controls: most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the Site.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC): we honor browser-level opt-out signals (GPC / "Do Not Sell or Share") as a valid request under CCPA/CPRA and similar laws.
- Right to opt out / delete / access: email admin@lentshouse.org to exercise any privacy right under your jurisdiction. We respond within 30 days.
8. We do not sell or share personal information
Lent's House does not sell, rent, trade, or share personal information (including donor or visitor data) for cross-context behavioral advertising or any third-party marketing purpose, as those terms are defined under CCPA/CPRA and other state privacy laws.
9. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in compliance with COPPA.
10. International transfers
Lent's House is based in Portland, Oregon, USA. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. under safeguards consistent with applicable cross-border transfer requirements (including, where relevant, Standard Contractual Clauses).
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date and, where required, re-prompted via our cookie banner.
